Uvic Collective Agreement

On Thursday, CUPE 4163 and the University of Victoria agreed on an interim agreement. The Labour Relations team works closely with all human resources executives and advisors on all matters relating to the interpretation and application of collective agreements. Other adaptations of the collective agreement are as follows: CERTIFICATION THE LABOUR RELATIONS BOARD, the satisfied workers mentioned here form an appropriate unit for collective bargaining and that all the necessary requirements of the labour law are met CERTIFY ABOVE the Canadian Union of Public Workers, local 4163 as bargaining partner for workers in a unit that was held in April, a meeting of members was held, Adopted a statute and held elections for the Board of Directors and the Treaty Committee. Negotiations for a first contract with the university began in May 1998. The two sides could not reach an agreement after months of negotiations and a mediator decreed a final agreement for a period of five years. On February 22, 1999, almost a year after negotiations began, CUPE signed 4163 members of its first collective agreement with UVic. In 1996, after two years of negotiations with the meetings, the university adopted a series of guidelines on short-term employment. Two months after the negotiations ended, however, UVic administrators and the board of governors refused to appoint a 20-year-old veteran of the music school as “head teacher,” as the guidelines provide. The Employment Agency (LRB) decided that the guidelines were not a collective agreement and that the faculty association was not an official negotiating partner for professors` meetings. The new collective agreement is now available as a reference on the employees` website. The full text of the last collective agreement is 951 CA 2019-2022.
